Halloween Hootenanny evokes craft beers, benefits MOLAA


Local event producers and craft brewing industry veterans Festival Obscura and Craft Beer LB team up to host the mildly morbid festival and fundraiser on Saturday, October 30, featuring decadent bites accompanied by Sips from over 45 independent craft breweries, cider houses, cult wineries and kombucha makers.

“We have a love and admiration for all that is macabre – plus who doesn’t like good food and good drinks – so we’re bringing these things together in October for a great cause by raising money for MOLAA,” the organizers Martin Svab and his wife said Ryan Hughes Svab. “We hope you will come and join us for a terribly fun afternoon together at MOLAA.”

The Svabs, who co-founded special events company Obscura LB, are local business owners who operate The 4th Horseman, a craft beer and wine bar with ‘doomsday’ pizza cuisine. The 4th Horseman also has a gallery in the back called The Dark Art Emporium, which is a selection of fine art and quirks ranging from surreal paintings to taxidermy.

The couple have teamed up with their friend and Obscura LB co-founder Dennis Trilles, Craft Beer LB event producer and beer advocate, to host the Halloween Hootenanny, which they promise will be full of “sinister people.” surprises “.

Beyond the boos and bites, organizers have planned other adult treats and treats, including a ghoulish merchant market with more than a dozen local retailers, artists and writers, as well as entertainment such as DJ Katon, DJ Paul E. The Halloween Hootenanny, which runs from noon to 5 p.m., is an event for ages 21 and up and all guests will receive a complimentary commemorative souvenir tasting glass with unlimited tastings.

In accordance with applicable COVID-19 rules and regulations, participation will be limited to guests who can present proof of vaccination or proof of a negative test result within 72 hours of the event.
