Good Neighbor Saves Mail Mix in Fort Lauderdale – NBC 6 South Florida

A priceless package was found by a good neighbor after it was delivered to the wrong house in Fort Lauderdale.

Don spent days following his new 1972 vintage guitar basics which he found online. But according to Don, the shipping company delivered him to the wrong address.

“The neighbor calls me and tells me that this big box has been delivered,” he said. “So I’m driving over there, and luckily for me. I mean, I was so, so happy that she read my phone number on the box the music store put in.”

The mail confusion could have ended badly, but thanks to a good neighbor it didn’t.

“I’m grateful, so grateful that she found it,” Don said.

He was thankful that his neighbor was home by the time they delivered the package.

“[The] possibility of theft, I mean you have a 5ft box with some flimsy stickers on it with a tag from a music store. I can’t imagine if it got stolen because it’s 50, you can’t replace it, ”Don explained.

Because the guitar is considered invaluable, Don says he required a signature on delivery from the shipping company.

But he claims the delivery guy never asked for one after his neighbor sent him a video of the delivery guy.

“A few days later, she sent me a video of the FedEx man delivering the package to the house,” Don said. “He just put it on the doorstep. He rang. There was nothing to sign, he walked away. She even said there wasn’t even enough time to answer. at the door.”

Don thinks that if the delivery guy had asked for a signature, he would have realized he was delivering Don’s package to the wrong house.

With the holidays quickly approaching, Don hopes the shipping company will correct delivery errors more quickly.

“There has to be a number to call and say, ‘Hey, it happened,’ to speed up and find the driver somewhere so that it doesn’t happen to anyone,” Don said.

FedEx released this statement to NBC 6: “The security of our customers’ shipments is a top priority. We are currently reviewing these claims and will be working directly with Mr. Lavelle and the shipper on this matter. “
