North Yorkshire health chiefs said they had succeeded in meeting the national commitment to provide all people aged 50 and over with a Covid-19 vaccination by April 15.
People aged 45 to 49 are now encouraged to contact the National Online Reservation Service at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination
Alternatively, they can call 119 to make an appointment for their vaccination.
In addition, second doses continue to be given in North Yorkshire and York, according to NHS North Yorkshire and NHS Vale of York CCG officials.
All current COVID-19 vaccinations given in the UK require two doses to provide the best protection against serious illness.
Dr Charles Parker said: “It is great news that the North Yorkshire and Vale of York CCGs have achieved their goal of providing vaccination to all people aged 50 and over. This is thanks to an army of GPs and volunteers and has been a fantastic collaboration between the NHS, local authorities and community partners.
“I want to thank everyone, including the audiences in North Yorkshire and York, for making this important milestone for us.”
Dr Nigel Wells added: ‘We are now moving towards the national commitment to provide immunization to all adults by July 31 and we are confident that we can achieve this if the planned government supply is. delivered.
“The immunization program continues to evolve as it progresses.
“Last week the Askham Bar vaccination site became the first in North Yorkshire and York to deliver the Moderna vaccine, giving the vaccination schedule even more resistance as we move closer to the 31st date. July.”
Amanda Bloor, Head of CCG North Yorkshire, said: “We have made great strides in the vaccination program in North Yorkshire and York. As we move forward on the roadmap outside of containment, taking the vaccine is the best thing we can do to protect ourselves and those around us so that we can move on to a more normal life.
“I encourage everyone to get the vaccine to come forward when you are invited. I also urge you to show up for your second dose when you are called to make sure you are getting the maximum protection the vaccine has to offer.
