June 8, 2004 ~ November 20, 2021
Caleb Tyler Anderson, 17, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on November 20, 2021. He was born in the loving home of Richard and Mary Anderson on June 8, 2004.
Caleb loved his time at Marian Hope Academy and made many close friends while attending there. Caleb then moved on to Lee’s Summit West High School and was there currently. He was studying CVC at the Herndon Career Center.
Caleb was a special gift to the world that glowed with creativity and original thought. He spent most of his childhood wearing costumes wherever he went; Whether he’s the Red Power Ranger, Batman, or a Star Wars character, he’s always been a superhero. Caleb became Jack’s big brother, and they had a very sweet bond that no one could break. They enjoyed the family camping adventures, time on the lake, and the epic Nerf Wars, to name a few. Caleb was a loyal and genuine friend with a heart of gold and often befriended those who needed a friend most; he cared deeply for people and listened more to the needs of others than to his own.
Caleb never did anything by halves. Whenever he discovered a new interest, he quickly pursued his knowledge until he became an expert in the matter.
Caleb grew up loving nature and wanting to learn all he could about survival skills, bushcraft, and primitive / minimalist living. He had a self-taught expert knowledge of wild edible products and could identify all kinds of plants and trees by sight alone. Caleb was naturally born to be an outdoor enthusiast. He loved to hunt and fish with his father. He has repeatedly won the Neighborhood Fishing Tournament at Raintree Lake and was a skilled and avid deer hunter. He loved the simple life and could imagine himself traveling the world with nothing but a few simple tools and a backpack, trying and cooking exotic foods.
While working for Red Racks, Caleb continued to nurture his love for a minimalist and thrifty life while cherishing a simple life. He preferred vintage and antiques to things one could easily find in a department store. Caleb loved the hunt and the thrill of finding vintage jewelry in a thrift store or antique store. He often found things to be restored and greatly enjoyed the process of reconditioning to working order. This began his love for knife making and leatherworking. He would continue his love for restoring old axes and building knives from recycled woods and items he salvaged.
Caleb bought his first guitar and amp from a local thrift store, which sparked his love of music and he quickly bought every instrument he could get his hands on. This has led to a deep dive into music of all eras and genres. In addition to his love of music, Caleb became passionate about all the formats music had been broadcast on over the decades. This led to the purchase of cassette players, eight track players, CD players and a vinyl collection to name a few.
Caleb was predeceased by his grandfather Jack Denney. He is survived by his parents Richard Anderson and Mary (Denney) Anderson, his brother Jack Anderson, grandparents Sharon (Jim) Parcel, Barry (Pamela) Anderson and Gala Surrell, uncle Matthew (Stephany) Denney, the Aunts Sherri Leeman and Sadie Anderson, her beloved cats Carly and Pumpkin. Caleb will be truly missed by many other families and friends.
Services for Caleb will be held at Longview Funeral Home & Cemetery – 12700 SE Raytown Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64149 on Monday, November 29, 2021, with tours at 5:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 6:30 p.m.
